SAGA is a Canadian progressive rock band formed in 1977 in Oakville, Ontario. Over the decades, the band has built a loyal international following thanks to its distinctive blend of melodic progressive rock, powerful synthesizer arrangements and driving guitar riffs. With classics such as “On the Loose,” “Wind Him Up” and “The Flyer,” SAGA established itself as one of the genre’s most enduring names.
Their breakthrough album, Worlds Apart (1981), brought the band international success and was followed by an impressive catalogue that now includes 22 studio albums, as well as numerous live albums and compilations. In 1982, SAGA also received a Juno Award for “Most Promising Group of the Year.”
Nearly fifty years after their formation, SAGA remains active and hugely popular, particularly in Europe and Germany, where the band continues to perform regularly. The current line-up consists of Michael Sadler (vocals, keyboards), Ian Crichton (guitar), Jim Gilmour (keyboards, vocals), Mike Thorne (drums, vocals) and Mike Borkosky (bass, keyboards).
With their timeless sound, devoted fan community and outstanding live reputation, SAGA continues to demonstrate why they remain one of the most respected names in progressive rock.
